This design is inspired by the pineapple from the Cook Islands. People from the Cook Islands have a deep appreciation for pineapples and often use them as a totem in their clothing and blankets. Women in their homes would gather around blankets to embroider and outline these designs, a process that is quite labor-intensive but deeply cherished and enjoyed. My idea is to make these designs more accessible by incorporating them into jewellery. I used vibrant summer colours to create eye-catching pieces, aiming to evoke the same joy and satisfaction that they experience when making their embroidered blankets and enjoying pineapples.
